A new Dawn for 1941

Ok guys, time for a heads-up! I am reviving one of my very old projects. A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far a... oh wait.

Well, many years ago, I was trying to learn a bit about game development using GameMaker 1.x. Back in the day, there were a couple of interesting tutorials available for GameMaker, and one of the tutorials was about a scrolling shooter. There were also a couple of sprites provided with the tutorial pdf. Basically, World War 2 planes lookalikes. Those sprites were actually made by Ari Feldman (the famous spritelib, still available today). After finishing that tutorial, I was having quite the fun with the little game I made - a WW2 scrolling shooter, where you fly a plane, shooting enemy planes while avoiding enemy fire. Even though I did some other tutorials, and made other very simple 2D and 3D protoype games, this one stuck with me.

Fast forward to today. I am a web developer, slowly turning game developer :) So I picked up the Unity engine, mostly because I am familiar with C#. I was thinking on going with Godot, but I decided to stick with Unity, for now.

The game I am currently working on is called 1941. It is a reimagining of the scrolling shooter mentioned before. It will be free, right here on itch.io. As of now, I am into it about a month or so, and I have basically finished the core features. Currently, I am working on the sound aspect of the game, like sound effects, music, etc. I am still deciding whether to have levels or to implement it as an infinite scroller of sorts. I haven't set any release date yet, but it should be out before New Year.

So, there ya go. I have many more projects planned for the future, but every great journey begins with a small step - forward. I hope that you will join me on this great adventure and that you will have fun playing the games that are to come. Cheers ma dudes!
